Percussion Class
PCHS is proud to have many course offerings for students not enrolled in an ensemble. The percussion class is a general education elective for any student wishing to learn how to read music, play rhythms, and use concert and world percussion. Students start this course learning basic notation and technique and progress into reading pitches, playing mallets and understanding rudiments in concert literature. Students also have the opportunity to play world percussion literature and gain a better understanding of the world outside of Pekin. After completing the percussion class, students have the opportunity to audition for placement in the curricular Concert Band for for the following school year.
