Cadet Band

           The Cadet Band at PCHS is an extension of the Concert Band that meets during the fall semester.  All incoming freshman and any student that has not had band the previous school year are enrolled in this course for 18 weeks.  This ensemble helps all students funneling in from the different Jr. High programs to get the same foundation before joining the Concert Band in the spring.  Students get a review of music fundamentals such as scales, articulations and rhythm.  These students combine with the Concert Band on the fall Fine Arts Concert and the winter Holiday Concert.  Students in the Cadet Band also have sectional time where they can practice individually or as part of a group.  These sectionals are a weekly part of the curriculum and help aid the students in advancing their playing.  All students are expected to complete their Grade Level Expectations (GLE) and attend all curricular dress rehearsals and concerts.  ​Students that wish to join band after an extended amount of time away from playing should contact the director for more information on how to enroll in this class.  Enrollment in this course allows students to receive PE Exemption for their participation in Marching Band.  Individuals may also participate in Pep Band and have the opportunity to audition for Jazz Ensemble.
